Brause (the nib people) had triangular pen holders years ago. Made out of plain wood. I think they may still be producing them in Europe, but they were for straight pen holders.

Thank you for sharing! I just entered this forum as a new member and your guidelines is already one of the first things I found out about ;D Awesome, because I was already having in mind to try a spiral soon!
