Thank you Mimi! I agree, the styling is ah-ma-zing! The photographer is so talented. I felt really lucky the bride had such a talented photographer, and that the photographer was willing to share with me/let me use her work in my portfolio!

I just recommended this video for what may be the 100th time, and realized I wasn't sure if I ever officially posted a thank you for it! So, thank you thank you! I cannot tell you how many times I've watched it, and what a valuable resource I've found it to be. Greatly appreciated!

Thank you everyone for the nice comments!! You are so encouraging. i am slowly finding a real love for the entire process of wedding invitation design. At first the editing process was so tedious it was only until the end when the final product was done I was really enjoying myself. Each time I do one it gets a little easier to get from a blank slate to the finished design...I can almost say Photoshop and Illustrator are my friends now  ;)

I am just obsessed with these photos. The way the photographer and stylist present everything, is just stunning! And all the jewelry, shoes, etc. belong to the bride. These are some of my favorite photos of my work to date!

I just wanted to bump this thread and give a little shout-out to Simon's Stamps (not affiliated in any way :) ) I found them through this forum and they have been AWESOME to work with. I made a stamp for a bride that ended up being smaller than she wanted, so we had to re-do it and get it to her in 2 days. The folks at Simon's went ahead and started manufacturing the stamp before I got home to actually pay the invoice, just to make certain she would have it in time. I thought that was fantastic!

This may be old news, but also if you have an Etsy store you can easily get wholesale account ;)

Very unprofessional too: he should have been made to write out "I must not act like a high-handed martinet" 100 times, in any style he chose so long as it was legible.

Fantastic idea! I should tell him to post it here, too-- I bet to calligraphy lovers his handwriting would necessitate a 1/2 point reduction too  ;)

Here are a few more:

Thank you so much for the kind words! I'm very green and have a lot to learn, but every piece is definitely made with love. Moya, I am the same way about modern calligraphy; in fact, the reason I started doing it at all was because my handwriting is so strange and loopy, it seemed reminiscent of a modern calligraphy style anyway and I thought I'd see if I could use that as a springboard. (In fact, in college I had a professor take of 1/2 a point from an exam because he said my handwriting looked too much like "16th century calligraphy"-- very NOT true, but got his point across ;)

Show & Tell / Modern Calligraphy + Watercolor Illustrations

I just wanted to share what many of my pieces have evolved into... namely, quotes or lyrics with watercolor illustration. It's been so much fun because I really get a chance to talk to the client and see what is personally important to them, what words/symbols are special, etc. I feel like each piece really has a story.

For example, this e.e. cummings poem was a gift for an aunt. The word "Yes" in the last line of the first stanza had significant meaning in it, and we even hid a meaningful date in the floral garland!

This one is for a friend who sings "Let's Go Fly a Kite" to her little boy every night before she puts him down.

This last one I'll share is for a girl who was actually diagnosed with cancer while pregnant; she came through everything and her friend wanted to give her a gift celebrating her strength and hope (shown with the nursery that was an inspiration):

I know it depends on how heavy handed you are, but I was wondering if there's anything you look for in particular to know if a nib is done for. I just have no frame of reference as far as duration of a nib's life. Especially when to the eye it doesn't look warped or misshapen. For example, yesterday I was using a Hunt 22 that I really loved, and the ink just wasn't coming out correctly. But I wasn't sure if it was the way I was holding it at the time, or if the nib is spent. I tried again later, and it seemed to be "working" again.

All this to say, I don't want to have to prep a new nib if my old one really has more life to it, but I just don't know how long nibs generally last!
