I don't think that they are called that because they consider themselves masters. I think they share the work of the people they think are masters of their trade and I can't find anything wrong with that. Who hasn't got a folder or a drawer called "masters" with work of people they admire at home? I know I do! And I guess CM is just that, a collection of work the curators think of as masterful.

I don't find everything they post masterful or exceptional, but some of it is. And beauty is in the eye of the beholder I guess.

I actually approve of feature pages like that because:
1) You discover new and interesting people to follow because you share an interest
2) I myself like being featured, not because I think I'm a master or I'm follower-crazy, but because I think that pages like this can help like-minded people to find you and get in touch.

They look pretty! Did you win the lottery or something? I remember when you joined the forum you could not afford a table to write at or even nibs or a holder for yourself. But now you make so many holders. Where are you producing them?

I took Harvest Crittendon's "Beginning Spencerian" class at IAMPETH on Tuesday.  (I want to letter like Schin!!). Harvest is a good teacher & a very nice person.  We had 100+ in the class, yet she took an effort to review each student's work & offer a kind critique. When she looked at my lettering, she said, "Oh!  That's very good Copperplate!!"   :o. I am so in love with Copperplate, I can't make myself stop doing it, even when consciously trying!  I guess being at the same seminar as Schin doesn't necessarily mean that her talent is going to rub off on poor little me!  Tomorrow is the Advanced Spencerian & I'm prepared to take a beating!  ;D. But, at least Harvest thought my Copperplate was good!!
I know the feeling! :D

I once took a brush lettering class with Joluvian and he said: "You have the Copperplate in your hands!"

Me too! I LOVE cute character stationery and I have tons of it. Exactly the kind of sets you're showing. Japanese and Korean "letter sets" are the best! The paper isn't always good for calligraphy, but so cuuuuuuuute!

Good grief! I wonder how you manage at all. Hugs!! The lot of us should be the least of your worries!

Also, you could get a lightpad, so you can see the guidelines through your envelopes, as long as they're not too dark. :D
