Thanks for sharing.  Finding a pen pal is hard enough.  Finding someone you can relate to and keep in touch is hard.

Reading WSJ is the last thing I would read, if anything at all.  I remember having a NYT and The Daily News coming every morning, now I don’t even see them been sold at the markets.  Truly, has everything gone online?

And in the mail…. Mostly junks and bills.  The same goes for email.   Aiiiyaaa, what has this world come to!?

@AAAndrew would know more about it.  Head over to www.theEsterbrookProject.com for more information on it. I would not get the 702. It’s a big nib and not much flex for your writing.  If you like nibs just snail me.

Not sure if this belonged here… modern nibs tends to dig into the paper more so than vintage pens.

Perhaps this can avoid the mistakes often enough to worth the time to finding a good vintage nib.
In avoiding splats, moving the paper to the focal point of writing also helps and practice with the same nib so that you know the feel of it, even in your sleep.

If you ask Kenneth the calligrapher, all mistakes are erased and all works are fine tuned with Photoshop to perfection.

I always thought that the connecting strokes on a single letter was only for demonstration purposes.

To me the half spacing looks less legible than the evenly spaced.

Spacing is oncourse with the writer's preference at the time of writing.
It is most likely dependent on mood and intent of the piece.
For spacing to be legible and aesthetic, it is the even spacing, foremost, and moderate spacing metric.

I don't know much but whenever I see a piece with good play of space (words and non words) and a mono-rhythmic spacing,
I am at enamor when I see @AnasaziWrites @jeanwilson and @Erica McPhee  samples.

Gau!  Estupendo!

Little space with big solutions.  I once saw this somewhere on the internet.  So I built one for my daughter's studio.
I think you will find a solution if you like to.  I also once saw a coffee table pops up to become a dinning table.

When you can build a cabin, this is a no brainer.

Wow congrats!  What a great endeavor

How does different language differ with script selection?
And how do you propose to maintain each person’s interest high?

In English, I felt instant gratification with italics, boring compared to fancy scripts like Spencerian. Italic is slow but I found italic in cursive form is quickly written.

But my brain always drawn to Spencer for speed but it took so much more effort (especially with drills) to achieve.

I have two pens in my pocket, one for BP and one 1.8mm chisel.  Whichever I pick up is the one I make my notes with.  I am in solely to improve handwriting, everyday handwriting


Some days when I rush through my notes, I see I still regress to my former self. And kept reminding myself … someone will eventually read my scribble and scrawny scribbles. Might as well take a deep breath and write slowly

In the end, I speed up over time and looks legible but nothing like a calligrapher

I am happy.
