...Higgins Eternal on envelopes for a client?

I'm on a Higgins love kick right now, and I think it looks really nice on the envelopes - no feathering, soft black.  Can anyone think of a reason that I should not use Higgins?

I've always used sumi for client envelopes.

I've always used sumi for client envelopes.

I don't see why not! Maybe just test it by doing an envelope and posting it to yourself, and maybe flick one under running water for pretend "rain" and put one in the full sunlight for a while (this might be an Australia-specific test, our sun is pretty harsh) - and if all those produce results you're happy with, then you're good to go.  It's not as if envelopes truly need to be archival quality.

Actually, Lindsey Bugbee at the Postman's Knock just did a waterproofing test of Higgin's Ink, so that'll save you some trouble:

It smears pretty badly when it comes in contact with water - she suggested spraying some fixant on the front to ensure it doesn't run.

Thank you for all of the wonderful advice!!

I'm not too concerned about waterproofing - just because all of the addresses are domestic.  But, I think I might stick with the sumi...the hairlines with the sumi aren't as good, but I did a sample in both inks and the sumi just looks more professional and finished.  (Also surveyed the hubs, and he said there was no contest.)
