Hi Aman,
I too, am new to the Forum and would be pleased to be your penpal. Also, you, Mary Jane, if you like. Would you be interested in a Round Robin (the letter is passed amongst us, from one to the other and added to by each)?  If not, that is ok!  I will be busy the first part of the year, through the end of May, helping prepare for the wedding of my son, but would like to make time to write!  I am in the Houston, Texas area.  My nephew-in-law is from India (Punjabi) and I have a good friend in the Paris area.

Yours,  Patty

Hello @Foxmorepatty
How are you?

Thanks for your reply. I just send you an email please check :) ... Wow... seems you have some Punjabi connections.,, wishing you all the best for your Son's wedding.

Wishing you a very happy new year.

Regards
Aman

« on: February 17, 2017, 03:20:50 AM »
Hello @Garima ,

Thanks for the reply.. @prasad  has sent the inks and it's on the way ... and i am waiting for the delivery , he is  a man with Golden Heart :)  ...

I used SUMI and I like it and never tried Goushe. ..

Prasad have "Wallnut" ink treasure and he also have a "Iron Gall" ink treasure .. nice :) ...

Thanks
Amna

Hi Aman, I'm responding a bit late as i am not a regular on the forum these days. Apologise!

I almost always use walnut ink for my practice. Of late, I've started experimenting a bit with Iron Gall, Sumi and gouaches. You'll find gouaches in Delhi on stationery shops.

For blacks, i started using Sumi earlier but found it a bit messy and difficult to handle. Ordered Iron Gall online a couple of months back and have rarely used sumi after that. @prasad was generous enough to send me some more Iron Gall recently and i'm ever so thankful for his kindness :)

Hello @Eleen

Good Morning,

Nope, paper is just working fine for me, I have used Pilot Parallel pens and dip pens on it,, and no complains so far. :)

Aman

Hi,

Just to add.

If you are in India and looking for a *cheap / economic* practice paper, then PaperOne A4 Printing Paper 500 Sheets(100 Gsm) is the best.

I do most of my Calligraphy work on it.

You can order it online from Amazon India . http://www.amazon.in/PaperOne-A4-Printing-Paper-Sheets/dp/B01LZFABF9/ref=sr_1_4?ie=UTF8&qid=1485324991&sr=8-4&keywords=paper+one+100+gsm

Regards
Aman

Hi Aman,

I've tried on Paperone 100GSM however my nib will collect paper fiber does it happen to you?

Best Regards,
Eleen

Welcome to the group @nicky

Aman

Hi everyone! I'm Nicky from Melbourne and I'm currently teaching myself Copperplate (using Eleanor Winters - Mastering Copperplate Calligraphy) after trying out a couple of modern calligraphy classes and with a college course in the pipeline next year. I'm really excited to join this community as I've been mostly trying to work things out alone. Good to meet you all! :)
