And here, for your viewing pleasure, is the nobody-approved Caveman Grip™.  Apparently, I hadn't paid close attention to writing lessons in grade school, and this horrible thing haunted me for the next sixty some years, muscle-memory ossified into bone. Caveman Grip™ was aptly named because my writing looked as if it were done with a lump of coal in my white-knuckled fist.

When I began learning Spencerian from the old texts a few years ago, I did adopt the approved tripod pen hold, and decided also to no longer use finger and wrist movement in order to avoid the long baked-in habits.
The Caveman Grip was quite popular 20000 years ago, but then, they didn't have oblique pen holders.
Seriously, I applaud you for making such a major change. It's having a clearly positive effect.

This is the tried and tested Tripod Penhold (two fingers and thumb)
The shaft of the pen rests on the large knuckle of the foreffinger.
IMHO This penhold is suitable for all styles of writing and can be used effectively with both oblique and normal pens.
Works for me, too.

I am briefly reviving this thread to confirm that the Blanzy Tremplin no 160 is a wonderful little nib.  For me personally, in terms of feel it comes close to the Gillott 303, but it is a bit easier to use.  YMMV of course.  I found them at https://www.vintage-nibs.com/ .

I see vintage-nibs.com has a "Plume Tremplin" also designated no. 160, so I'm going to give those a try!
@Zivio  Yes, that’s the one I bought. I also bought Hunt 22 nibs and Gillott 404 nibs.  The Hunt 22 is the smoothest  of the three. And all three are small nibs, they won’t fit in every oblique penholder.

I just used one of my nibs and was amazed. It is a Blanzy Poure Tremplin 160. It is so good. Here is a sample of my writing with it (Please excuse the quality of the writing as i am still in my apprenticeship)  The nib just satisfies my love of the fine upstrokes and the full downstrokes.  Additionally it is so smooth. Not catching on the upstrokes which I am finding is very annoying on some nibs.
