Title: Hello from Segovia, Spain
Post by: Angela Sampayo on June 16, 2019, 08:44:20 AM
Hi everyone!
My name is Angela and I live in a small city near Madrid called Segovia.
I discovered brush lettering about three years ago, but I quickly got frustrated as my letters didn’t look as neat and beautiful as everyone else’s. I completely abbandoned my hobby because I felt like I wasn’t improving.
Two months ago I stumbled upon pointed pen calligraphy (specifically copperplate ) and when I started to practice drills and basic letterforms, everything just clicked.
I’ve been practicing everyday since then, and I’m in love with everything I’m learning.
I want to keep practicing copperplate, but want to expand my skills. I think I will start learning Italic soon!
Calligraphy is a truly beautiful skill, and I can’t wait to learn everything I can.
This forum is a blessing. Can’t wait to participate in it!

Angela, welcome!

This forum is indeed a blessing~~so many interesting people and tips for copperplate here. I rarely have any questions for the forum because I find so many answers in these archives. What are your favorite supplies for copperplate? I am always open to new ideas!

I'm glad to hear you've found a tool that works for you and are enjoying it so much.

Welcome Angela! I think you will find once you get the swing of copperplate with a pointed pen, your brush lettering will improve. Brush lettering done with the same strokes as copperplate with a pointed pen is beautiful! That is one thing I figured out. I was trying to use the brush differently when in fact, using them similarly helps.  ;D
