Show & Tell / Re: Drawing with nib

Love your drawings!  Drawing with a pointed pen is what led me to find the pointed pen calligraphers.  I haven't done much of either lately (unfortunately) but your work is an inspiration.
Here is a page from my sketchbook.

Workshops & Conference News / Re: IAMPETH 2017 - Who's attending?
« on: July 21, 2017, 05:15:30 PM »
Oh, yes, it was so lovely to meet FF pals in person.  What a pleasant & talented and fun set of people!  But we were so busy with classes and events that we barely had time to socialize.  We need a week of class and a week of goofing off.  haha.
For those who want to plan ahead, next year it will be in Milwaukee, at the beautiful, chandelier-filled Hilton Hotel.

Hello all ~

I'm registered for IAMPETH and as long as there isn't another family crisis, I'll be there.  I'm looking forward to meeting Flourish Forum members.  Maybe we should write FF on our name tags so we can identify each other.

I am so, so, so sad that I won't see Schin as usual.   :'(

This past year I've barely picked up my pointed pen, and I haven't participated in FF.  I've been ill and we have had some relatives pass away.  So my ink has probably dried up and the nibs rusted.  haha.  I'm hoping that IAMPETH will refresh my mind and spirit.

Happy inkiness,
Ev

Workshops & Conference News / Re: Spencerian Saga

So glad you are able to go to the Saga!  The Saga was my introduction into the oblique pen & Spencerian script.  What a great week - pen friends, scenery, and someone else does all the cooking & cleaning.  hurrah!

Completed/Past Exchanges / Re: SHARE A PHOTO OF YOUR EXCHANGE!

Wow, Gibby . . . your exchange contribution is brilliant!

Thanks to Janice, Erica & Anika for the encouraging words about my feather with the apple blossoms.  Erica, I would not have posted if I'd known you had not opened your mail - sorry!  What will power you have. I open everything immediately.   Or did your really just misplace all your mail after your move?  hehehe.

No pen fun for me yet.  :P   I'm either at the medical clinic or I'm sleeping.  Sometimes I wake up and then I console myself by watching Doctor Who.  Funny.  You'd think I'd be sick of anything with the word "doctor" in it.

I hope everyone will post pictures of their exchanges so I can live vicariously.

I made some cards for the Flight of the Feathers exchange, but did not join in because I am going through a lot of medical treatment.  I sent this card to Erica.
There is a stack of letters on my desk that need to be answered.  If I owe you a letter, please be patient!  When I'm feeling better and there is less chaos in my life, I will be back to writing.

Tools & Supplies / Re: Chair / stool recomendations ?

I have an eye on the Varier Move http://www.varierfurniture.com/en_be/Movement-Chairs/Move/Variations-Move/Move_Black_STE999-Black_lacquered_Ash, but it is quite expensive and I'd like to know if it is suitable for pointed pen calligraphy... Has anyone tried it ?

Hey!  I have one of these!  I like it.  I like the look of it, the easy of raising and lowering the seat, and the range of heights.   Because it is a stool, rather than a chair with a back, I have to be careful to not slouch.  And my previous chair had wheels, so it was quite a change to not be able to scoot around while staying seated.

It might be too heavy to want to lug around to events.  Maybe the spec sheet tells the weight.

I also have an adjustable table.  I can raise it so I can write standing up, which I very much like.

At the moment I am out of town; when I get home I can post a picture of my work area.  Or, as it has been this summer, my Dust-Collecting-Area.  hahaha.

I think Sybille should just come over to my house and try it.  Then I could watch her write.  I'd probably pass out from envy. haha!  She only has to go about 4219 miles to get here.

Hello @ash0kgiri  ~

Usually we don't post exchange pictures until we know that everyone has received their envelopes.  This allows each person to enjoy being the first to see their own mail.

About whether it is appropriate to post IAMPETH exchange envelopes on the Flourish Forum... that's an interesting question.  You could ask @Erica McPhee what she thinks about this.

I'm not in charge of anything involving the IAMPETH forum, but it seems to me you could post them there in the envelope exchange thread.

By the way, I'm impressed with your focus & the improvement in your script.  I am soooo very unfocused that I make slow progress.  Thanks for the pictures.

Thanks, Andy.
Finally got an image to fit into the post   :P

Hahahahaha!  I am way too  :o   :P  to be able to keep a journal like this.  I even have an official diagnosis - visual sequencing disorder.  Weird that this is even a thing.  If I see more than about seven things I cannot get organized.  & I have never been able to sustain keeping a journal.  Even a calendar rarely makes it through the 12 months of the year.

Check out the instagram of the very talented Anne Esner to see how she decorates her daily journal:  https://www.instagram.com/p/BHmcJtQAeLL/?taken-by=anneelser

I have a goal to finish filling one sketchbook before I die.  I stopped paying attention to it after I discovered all you pen people, too busy trying to write fancy script to draw pictures.
Some sketchbook details:
[I attached a pdf which is not visible without downloading.  Hmm.  Must put figuring out how to get the image to show up in the post on my to do list.  haha]
