Suggestions for fixing a too-bent brass oblique flange?

I purchased a lovely wooden oblique pen holder from PIA and adjusted the flange to fit my Brause EF66. I'm currently loving the Zebra G but alas, I managed to dent the bottom of the flange with my pliers and it's too tight for the Zebra to fit in more than halfway. Does anyone have suggestions for how to fix this?

A very small flat head screwdriver will widen that space.

If you can remove the flange you can easily spread it apart And fix the too tight spot.

If you have a small piece of leather, or flexible silicone or rubber (or grippy fabric)to hold the nib, you can get some extra grip (and save your fingers) to really push the nib in.  Keep wiggling it up and down, and try pushing it in from the front and back of the flange.  If you can get it part way in, you can usually eventually get all of it in this way!

Melanie Jane's method works very well - especially if the dent is too far for the screw driver to reach. Scrape some pencil lead on the edge of the flange - the graphite provides lubrication and will help the nib slide in a little easier.

I do the same as Melanie Jane, and will try Salman's graphite tip should the need arise.
