This is so helpful! I was just looking at mine wondering if it's really a big deal that the nib I'm most comfortable with sticks out too far, since it's the only kind of pen I have at this point. I'm curious to see what a difference this makes since I'm only a couple of weeks into learning Copperplate. Thank you!

Flourished birds and even animals are fine with me.. it fluctuates between amazingly beautiful and plain weird. But what I really can't stand are flourished people.. all the little curls making up the people.. kinda disturbing!

Gaahh. That one on the bottom right. Stuff of nightmares. A creepy head holding a creepy head on a stick. There's a wedding theme for you.

Mollyebelle, great plan! I've started following you back . It's hard for me to put it on IG every day, because I tend to want to "get good" at something before I show someone. But it's been so encouraging for people who have followed me to either "like" the pic or leave a comment to encourage me in this beginning phase. It's also been good to have a pic every day to compare to. I don't see great differences from one day to the next, but when I look at the pic of my first day's practice compared to now, I can see a change.

I'm so excited to have found this site! I stalk follow a few of you on Instagram and heard of this site from there. I'm more of a watch from the sidelines type, but everyone seems so friendly and helpful and welcoming, it made me want to introduce myself instead of just creep .

I took an Italic course before and it was a great class and I learned a lot. However, I didn't know until I started the class that it wasn't the style that I loved! That was a couple of years ago, and after the class was over I didn't practice much. Just last week I've started a Copperplate class and I'm loving it. I hope to venture into modern calligraphy some day, but for now I'll stick with classic Copperplate.

I have my Instagram linked in my signature. It's hard for me to share it because I'm not too proud of my work yet, but I'm hoping it will be encouraging to look back on and see my progress. Any advice is welcome. Thanks!
