Hmmm... what month is that? I may have to try to go. I wonder if I could drive there (I have a thing about not flying without my kids!). I was so tempted when I saw the Conference was going to be in TX this year but we are going to be in LA and then touring CA!

Joy, I'm glad you said that... I found it the opposite with the Nikko and Zebra but maybe I mixed them up. I'll have to do a test again.

Thanks Ladies! I know it looks like I just wung (is that a word) this off but this was actually hours and hours of work getting it to look the way Pam wanted. And with lots of good feedback as well. At some point I will post a progression of a logo design so people can see how a design is fine tuned and how the progression improves the process.

Show & Tell / Good Witch

I saw this black ornate oval frame at Michaels last night and grabbed it from the clearance bin for $2. I knew exactly what I was going to do with it.

I lettered various Halloween words in Spencerian for the background. I then drew a witch silhouette. Finally, I lettered "Good Witch" in orange gouche. I worked quickly and while the gouche was still wet, I sprinkled orange glitter on it. I wish you could see how it sparkles in real life!

I'm including a picture of a flat version of the calligraphy so you can see the lettering. This was really fun. I don't make as much time to play as I should so why not start now!

Welcome to the forum! We have much in common! I love flourished copperplate as well. IAMPETH is a fantastic resource and you can't go wrong attending one of their conferences.

Hi Donna Jeanne,
Thanks so much for joining the forum. You are an adventurous artist! CT is beautiful this time of year. I hope you enjoyed your workshop. I looked at your website and your illustration is amazing. Do you spend time on storybird.com? My youngest loves it and it has really helped with her writing. I love it for admiring all the artists.

We usually host an international calligraphy artist in February here in Sarasota, FL (right near Siesta Key Beach, the #1 ranked beach in America). Unfortunately, next Feb we won't be hosting anyone but perhaps one year you can travel here for a workshop.

Favorite Resources / Zenspirations by Joanne Fink

I found out about Joanne's zenspirations class during a guild meeting several years ago. It was just a few days away but my fellow guild member, Kathleen and I woke up at 4 a.m. and drove across the state to take the class. It was worth every single minute of lost sleep and then some!

Joanne is a kind, warm-hearted, and sweet artist. She has incredible talent and such a sharing heart. I loved the class and have used the skills she taught us over and over.
