Critique Please
« on: July 13, 2014, 02:07:29 PM »
Hello- I would love it if you guys could look over my calligraphy and suggest specific ways I could improve on specific letters and/or overall calligraphy. I am relatively new to calligraphy. Here are two samples.
Thank you so much!

You have a very sweet style...I picture it surrounded by pictures of spring flowers on a card. :)

Things to work on would be consistency of slant and loop size. Look at your ascenders and descenders. The goal is to have them parallel. I find that this is a general rule to keep in mind regardless of hand...whether you were trying to achieve the copperplate slant or a more modern upright form.

It's very cute!

What you could try is to close ovals (such as in d or a) fully before making the downstroke. Also, check that the letters have the same height, it varies considerably in your examples  ;) guidelines help with that, check out the Copperplate section for some pretty cool ones.
