Very nice publication. Thanks for sharing. I am sure there are many fountain pen aficionados in this Forum.
Yours truly!

That’s really lovely @Erica McPhee. I love the balance of the piece, and scrumptious brushwork.

Oh wow @Starlee! That is much more interesting than I expected. It looked so...brown and uninspiring  ;D. There’s a wide range of colour there. Thank you - it was definitely worth the wait!

Everyday Handwriting | Penmanship / Re: What happened to my cursive?
« on: March 13, 2021, 03:01:26 PM »
I have always had issues with my normal hand, which is strongly based on italic, being affected by working on other styles. My recovery technique is to slow right down for my normal hand and gradually bring it back up to speed. Interesting that doesn’t in turn affect the hand I’m working on. I’ve never figured out why that is.

That is both very beautiful and very elegant.

I think both require intensive attention to details! They each offer their own distinct challenges and that one isn’t necessarily easier than the other, they are just different.  :)

Am I the only person that is dying to know how you did that Ken?

I have a Chic Oblique and am very happy with it. It is beautifully balanced and a joy to hold and use  :D. You will get a lot of pleasure from it and they are works of art as well, gorgeous to look at.

This is a gorgeous piece! More meaningful I suppose as I remember David Steel from his political heyday.

Welcome to the forum from another relative newbie, Robert. It's a rich repository of resources. I am a relative newcomer to pointed pen having mostly focussed on broad nib for the last 40+ years.

Welcome on board. Broad-edge offers a wide range of styles and hands to play with. I’ve come from broad-edge to pointed and it is an interesting learning curve!

Welcome on board. Calligraphy is fun and rewarding but it has the strange side effect of making you lose time. You settle down to practice some hand or other and before you know it the clock has struck midnight, the cat is still outside yowling to be let in and you realise you haven’t eaten since lunchtime.

Get lots of different nibs and try different styles of hand. There are lots of posts about working out which hand you enjoy most and @jeanwilson has plenty of expertise and experience in this area. Play lots and explore.

Aloha from another calligraphy newbie and ukulele aficionado. I wish I were in Kaua'i to improve my uke playing and escape from the cruel central european winter.
@Trazo You play ukulele??? That’s another thing we have in common  ;D ;D

(Oops - I’m not hijacking the thread here! It will just eventually turn out that we were identical twins separated at birth, raised in different countries and who never knew)

I’ve just finished listening to this and it was great! I think my favourite part was where you @Erica McPhee described calligraphy as meditative. I totally agree, it is a great example of mindfulness, focussing on the task at hand and not letting your mind wander. It is a great means of developing focus and demonstrates to me how important that focus is on every part of every line and curve I put on the paper.
