I love it!  But, what do I know? I love all things bright, shiny, & “sparkly”!  It’s very pretty!

Oh!  I’d love to go!  That sounds like SO much fun! However, my “big Christmas Present” was 2 tickets to an Adele concert in Las Vegas that same weekend! ☹️. Why is it that I never have anything to do, unless I have 2+ things that I want to do??!!

Introductions / Re: Hello from UAE!

Hi, Sarah!  Welcome to the Forum!  My daughter, a lawyer like me, lived in Abu Dhabi for 4 years! She has now returned to Texas, United States, & is in Houston. We visited Abu Dhabi & Dubai & enjoyed it very much! :D

I have (very basic) Italic & (pretty good) Copperplate. I tried to conquer Spencerian, but I have too much Copperplate in my hand. I was taking a (I think third?) class with Harvest Crittendon & she stopped by my desk, to check on my progress. She said, “You have very good Copperplate.  Why are you attempting Spencerian?”  I said, “Well, I love Spencerian!”  She patted my hand & said, “Well, honey, it doesn’t love you back!”  She was 100% right & I have abandoned that quest!  ;D  I hope that you are more successful in your journey than I was!

At any rate, I’m glad that you are here!  Welcome!

@K-2. Thank you for the excellent explanation!!  I was hoping that someone would jump in with an explanation!  I hate to see something that I don’t know anything about!

Hi!  Did any of you watch the Ken Burns special about Benjamin Franklin on PBS this week?  It was very interesting & very well produced!  Ben Franklin was a printer & during the show, they showed various documents from his day, some of which he printed.  I noticed that on most of the documents, the letter "s" resembled what I identify as an "f".  Anyone know when letter like that was the norm?

There's an older insurance building across the street from the courthouse that has "Insvrance" carved in stone along the top, front of the building.  I know that at one point in time, "u" was written as "v".  My son was asking me about it, as it bugs him.  I couldn't tell him what era the use of the "v" for "u" was accepted.  Anyone know when that was?  Just wondering aloud here! :-)

Tools & Supplies / Re: Mixing Gouache as Ink

@Erica McPhee In my head it was "gwash"

There's a major brand of vinyl products that's named, "Siser".  I hear LOTS of crafters call it "Sizer".  The company, however, has a YouTube channel, with lots of helpful videos on how to use their products, & they pronounce it "Caesar", as in "Julius Caesar".  I wince every time I hear a crafter say "Sizer".  The vinyl is sold at Michael's and the clerks all pronounce it "Sizer".  I think that the company needs to rethink how they spell the company name!

@Erica McPhee I was grateful for the video because you pronounced “gouache”. You saved me from HEAPS of embarrassment, as I would have butchered the pronunciation!!

@Erica McPhee I know that once-upon-a-time, you made a video about how to mix gouache as ink.  I've searched for the video, as I have an upcoming project & want to mix up a pretty robin's egg blue as ink.  I can't find the video!  (Probably, that is user error, but the end result is the same! - I can't find a link!)  Any suggestions on how/where to find it??

Thanks in advance!
