More layout practice. It is truly my greatest weakness (because it requires thinking and I'm lazy).
I watched a couple of youtube videos on layout and tried to apply the stuff. At the last moment I decided to use the inks as paint so as to keep the color palette coherent.

And I added gold... because gold covers a multitude of sins  ;D

The splatters are unintentional  ::).

All feedback is welcome! And I have yet a lot of gems to dig up from the layout page on the forum.

@Erica McPhee wooooahhh that's one heck of a bluff! so many curls and whirls! amazing
Oh crêpe!

The script (or my attempt at it) is called Ardenwood by Giambattista Palatino, 1545.
Initially did this with a broadpoint nib and sumi ink, but the darn ink wouldn't dry after many hours, so couldn't do the detail work with a fine pen, thus ended up just drawing it with a micron pen and finishing it with a Gillott 170. I'll have to dilute this stuff some for my next use of it.

Ooof ... Bluff!

I like how Erica got carried away!  I've only begun to play a bit with flourishes, and there is something therapeutic and addictive in those movements!

Thanks for the tip, Lu.  Does that gold come in quart size?

Michael, looking forward to your subsequent posts! I'd considered how rich in meanings "bluff" is, what with verb, adjective and multiple noun forms. I think you could riff on this one word for the whole of Inktober!

I'll be travelling over a long weekend with limited time for writing, so will likely be missing posting, and all of you, until sometime next week.  Carry on!

@Erica McPhee - wow. just wow.
@Zivio and @Lucie Y and @AnasaziWrites - I'm really fascinated by how everyone decided how to do the double ff in "bluff".  So many different styles, so many different solutions.  I don't like my double ff - so I've got a lot of studying off of you all.  Still, I'm working on longer bits of text in copperplate. And getting used to the G303 (type I) - Mike, I remember you saying that the type II would be better for copperplate though.  (also very flattered that you liked my "ponytail" drawing)

Lucie - that's a really wonderful layout.  Such a good stylistic match between the French Roundhand and the leaf & vine decoration.  Worthy of a 16th century psalter!
