Hi, I'm Meg! Living in L.A. as a VFX artist
« on: February 03, 2017, 09:41:28 PM »
Hi folks!

I've been a professional VFX artist for about 15 years, and I've got some free time coming up. So I bought some flex nibs and they are *WAY* better than those 'calligraphy marker' sets. I'm delighted to be delving into actual calligraphy. For some reason I have a hard time making fine/broad lines with the markers, but no trouble at all making very pretty text with a pointed pen. Already did some valentine's cards with those new pens!

Welcome, Meg!  I'm glad to hear you're enjoying using your nibs!  There are so many to experiment with- I'm sure you'll enjoy discovering your favorites.

thanks for the welcome folks! I am indeed enjoying all of this new found fun. I've found I need a lot more practice with my letters, if they're ever going to be consistent.

that said, I am interested in the standard copperplate / super classic calligraphy, but also love the more modern hands, they seem delightful and airy.

Ashok - what do you mean worksheets?

Hi @meg,

By worksheets I mean you daily practice sheets.
Glad to know you are interested in Copperplate. You can refer to @SMK (salman's) copperplate turorials. They are amazing.
