Tools & Supplies / Zebra G Help
« on: January 09, 2016, 01:48:24 PM »
Hey everyone!  So my brand new Zebra G nib arrived today and I'm having some problems.  So after, dousing it in hydrogen peroxide and soap (Followed by rinsing it off)  the ink still pools at the end of the nib.  When I do get it to write, it's an absolute dream.  The zebra paired with walnut ink is so satisfying to write with!  Would love any tips, thanks!

Hey guys!  I was recently looking at Joe Vitolo's letter 'J' on the first page of his tutorial for his copperplate guide sheet.  After trying to emulate it I was shocked at my results after simply taking a good look at a single letter.  That experience led me to non other than the Flourish Forum!  What is thee best overall exemplar for Copperplate?  It'd be absolutely fantastic if it could have both majuscules and minuscules.  Thanks!

Spencerian Script / Learning Copperplate and Spencerian at the same time?
« on: December 27, 2015, 03:44:11 PM »
Hey guys!  Do you think it's a good idea to practice two scripts at the same time?  I've been learning Copperplate but recently my eye has really been taken by the beauty that is Spencerian.  Should I double team them or focus on one?  Thanks!

Open Flourish | General Discussion / What's your workflow?

Hey guys!  Just kind of polling the community as to what your workflows are.  Do you pencil first, then go over it in pen?  Do you always use guidelines?  I'd love to know!

The Library / Q&A W/Master Penman Connie Chen

Connie Chen posted an inspiring, quite personal Q&A video on her Youtube channel that I think you'd all enjoy!  (Please let me know if this is or isn't the right place to post this)

I've been absolutely loving using watercolor inks for calligraphy.  The set I'm using wasn't intended for use in calligraphy but I love it just the same.  My Finetec Arabic gold is stunning as well.  What do you guys think?  Any constructive criticism?  Thanks!

Nib used: Leonardt Principal
Nib Holder: Speedball Oblique

Hey guys!  After lurking on some posts in the forum it seems theres a common thread (pun intended)  amongst them.  Users have been recommending going back to the basics and practicing strokes, slant, etc.  Do you guys have any recommendations on copperplate exercises that will really make a difference?  Thanks!

Hey everyone!  I've been doing calligraphy now for about month and am absolutely in love with it.  From the communities, to the endless scripts and styles, calligraphy is the gift that keeps on giving.  I'm so happy to be a part of the forum and can't wait to post and get valuable feedback from a community that truly cares.  Talk to you all soon!
