I am so sorry. Oh geez and a yoke pen at that. It will turn up. Maybe try re-tracing your steps/movements.

We should help you and take guesses on where it is...

I say its in your pen/pencil holder/cup upside down blending in.

Keep us updated.

Could anyone or everyone show me how you write out a name please?:

I was just wondering if it's done differently with calligraphy.

Thank you so much in advance.

If you had to choose one Finetec GOLD..which one would you recommend?

(I suppose I should mention that I already do have Dr. Martins Copperplate Gold)

Thank you in advance!

Kind Critique / Re: Back to basics on Copperplate and Spencerian
« on: December 06, 2016, 08:43:11 AM »
@juliavido5 ....I had ask the same question in another post about the "shaky" issue.  I too struggle with it.  I am a little over 3 months into copperplate and I have taken the advice of ....practice practice practice. But something else I noticed about myself and this is comming from a beginner so I am in no way an expert but...when I am just practicing or playing around I do better. When I write something that is going to be seen by someone else (online or in person), I'm worse. I think it's because I am so worried that it won't look good it makes me nervous and it shows with the shaky lines.
Another thing I have noticed is ...I watch Instgram videos and look at work from The experts and masters and I think to myself "I just want to be that good at it".  These are masters that have been doing this for years and it looks really beautiful and smooth in pictures and videos, but if you will zoom in really close SOMETIMES you will see shaky lines in their work too. They will even say "this took 3 trys to get it right".  So even the masters and experts are real people
So I guess what I'm trying to say is don't be too hard on yourself, there is a lot of things to have to remember to do all at the same time (hand grip, posture, slant, etc) and for me it shows up in my work. I know it's frustrating but, Please don't give up, I won't if you won't ;)

Now, I just have to remember to take my own advice :/

Btw...I think your work is REALLY smooth!!!

I know there are several of us that celebrate different holidays and/or religions for this exchange...I don't know exactly the best way to find out...but it would be great to know what each person celebrates on their list.

Relieved to know I don't need to buy a new holder with different nibs, right now, to be able to use the Finetec.

Thank you @Inked botanicals @Estefa @JanisTX

Tools & Supplies / Re: Wax Seals that can handle USPS?
« on: November 14, 2016, 07:22:05 PM »
I have used both types of waxes. The "authentic" or "typical" wax sticks and The "glue gun sticks".

The typical wax sticks when harden, will break. While the glue gun sticks when hard, are pliable.

When I used the typical wax through the mail, they had gotten torn off.  The glue gun sticks went through fine. I don't know why it makes a difference to the postal system, but for me, it did.

I use the glue gun sticks for mailing and the "typical" wax for hand delivered.

The glue gun sticks come in an endless array of colors.

If I am only sealing a couple of envelopes, I will melt the stick over a flame...not IN the flame... just over it and twirl the stick till just before it drips, then apply it to the envelope. More than a few, I will use a low temp glue gun.

I have never used the pre-made "stick on" wax seals.

Hope that may help some.

Tools & Supplies / Re: Finetec/Nib Recommendations

That's great to know!

I only have one holder (JNB...Turned wood oblique holder H114) fitted for the Nikko nib.  The only nibs I have are the Zebra G, Nikko G, Tachikawa G, Hiro 40, Hunt 513ef, Hunt 101.

Please correct if I am wrong, but I don't think the Brause EF66 will fit my holder.  And that is the nib I hear/read everyone uses with the  Finetec.

What nibs do you recommend using with the Finetec Pearls?

Thank You!

Everyone's comments makes perfect sense....As a newbie, I am trying to concentrate on so many things at the same time...letter form, slant, spacing, holding pen correctly, nib position, posture, paper angle AND making sure I'm even spelling the word correctly! Also...confidence. I have to remember...I can always get more paper!'s OK. I'm relieved to know it happened to the best and just keep on practicing!

* "I can always get more paper" ....quote to one of my favorite funny movies...The Birdcage..."I just have to remember I can always order more toast"...LOL
