General How To's & Projects / How to use a Laser Liner

Hey friends!

In the past few months, I've seen a lot of interest in this cool little tool- the Laser Liner. It reduces the need for making pencil guidelines on your paper, thus speeding up your work! I mainly use it for addressing wedding invitations but the options are endless.

Last year, I created a video to help calligraphers understand how to use it. If this sounds like something that might be helpful to you, here's the tutorial:

Let me know if you have any questions!  :)

The Fude 8 comes with two cartridges that last a pretty long time.

Hi Daniel,

The best way to know that it's time to change the brush pen is when it begins to fray. That might happen if you're using a rougher paper to write on, or if you're pressing the nib too hard. Try HP 32# laserjet paper. It works great for both brush and pointed pen calligraphy.

Also, if you're new to the brush pen world I wouldn't recommend the Fude 8. Its pretty flexible, and most beginners have a tough time getting a hang of them. Try the Tombow Fude of Pentel Sign if you're a complete beginner, or a Kuretake Zig Brushables if an intermediate.
