I find Brush Lettering by Marilyn Reaves & Eliza Schulte to be very helpful. It covers both chisel-edged brush and pointed brush.
There are a few other good books out there on the topic, including a new one I think, so maybe check The John Neal Bookseller website.
Start watching for mail . . . .
I have put my exchange envelopes in the post and hope they will be in your mailboxes soon.
Dear list 6 friends,
I've just gone out of the Post SO ABSOLUTELY HAPPY. I went to the office near work to send your envelopes because the people in the office near home truly hate my letters. This postman grabbed them all and starred and said "these are stunning. How did you do this? This is so beautiful. He showed them around the office and everyone was so happy that there's people still doing this! He sent encouragement to keep the art alive.
Anyway, don't have hight hopes, they are not that great. But I am very happy of how they turned out and to have for the first time EVER someone not related to me or part of the forum saying my work was beautiful. It's super encouraging. :-) I hope you guys like them!
We mere mortals want to see pictures!!
Not getting to see the exchange pieces people are raving about makes me feel like I'm seven years old and somebody's chained me to my bed on Christmas morning.Don't feel bad--I suspect most of the members of this exchange have not finished making their entries yet, as the deadline to post is June 23, and most people wait until close to the deadline to mail them. After the deadline plus a week or two so everyone has received theirs, the results will be posted (hopefully), although less than half the people in the "Mimic a Master" exchange published their submissions (unfortunately).
