I sure did!  There are definitely no clumps in the ink.  When I dip past the eye, the ink kind of 'disperses' and then pools.  Maybe I'll try the toothpaste method next.

Hi!  The ink I'm using is Walnut Ink Crystals from Paper and Ink Arts.

Hey everyone!  So my brand new Zebra G nib arrived today and I'm having some problems.  So after, dousing it in hydrogen peroxide and soap (Followed by rinsing it off)  the ink still pools at the end of the nib.  When I do get it to write, it's an absolute dream.  The zebra paired with walnut ink is so satisfying to write with!  Would love any tips, thanks!

I would just like to give a HUGE thank you to everyone who's replied to this thread!  It's a true testament to how fantastic the community is here and I couldn't appreciate it more.  Really enjoying reading through all the comments  :)

Haha, you got a laugh out of me Andrew!  One can never have too many nibs!  ;)

Wow, E.A. Lupfer is quite impressive.  I've just spent a good 30 minutes simply looking over the lessons. (Fret not, I will look it over more in depth in the near future!)  Thank you so much for the recommendation!

Thanks Elizabeth!  Printing some out now :)

Hey guys!  I was recently looking at Joe Vitolo's letter 'J' on the first page of his tutorial for his copperplate guide sheet.  After trying to emulate it I was shocked at my results after simply taking a good look at a single letter.  That experience led me to non other than the Flourish Forum!  What is thee best overall exemplar for Copperplate?  It'd be absolutely fantastic if it could have both majuscules and minuscules.  Thanks!

Elizabeth, that is gorgeous! Thanks for the tips for the gradients too. I haven't had any luck since my attempts at watercolors have all turned muddy. Can't wait to try those suggestions (:

That looks gorgeous indeed!  Thanks for sharing!

Spencerian Script / Learning Copperplate and Spencerian at the same time?
« on: December 27, 2015, 03:44:11 PM »
Hey guys!  Do you think it's a good idea to practice two scripts at the same time?  I've been learning Copperplate but recently my eye has really been taken by the beauty that is Spencerian.  Should I double team them or focus on one?  Thanks!

I received a lightbox as well!  In addition, I was gifted antique paper, a fountain pen, two beautiful journals and my first wooden adjustable oblique holder!  Can't wait to play with them some more!

Hey guys!  Just kind of polling the community as to what your workflows are.  Do you pencil first, then go over it in pen?  Do you always use guidelines?  I'd love to know!

Thanks for the advice!
