My mother had a sign in her studio that said "A creative mess is better than idle tidiness." 

I always thought this was great, until I was the one who had to clear out her house.  Being a genuine hoarder, she took "a creative mess" to an extreme.  It took 2 of us 12 months of work to empty the place.  Ack!
