Lightfast ink for illumination
« on: May 08, 2019, 12:48:40 PM »
Hello all,

Am going to attempt an illuminated letter on real parchment.   I am a raw beginner.

So, my question right now is, for outlining my figures and artwork-(line drawing?), I need colored, lightfast inks.

1) Can I just dilute the gouache enough to make it runny so that it accomplishes the task?

2) There are some inks that are guaranteed to be lightfast.....what if those are a little off-color to my main color in my work, whether I am outlining a symbol, a plain figure of a peasant, or something else?   Would any difference in color between the body and outlining matter?

3) Anyone have any advice on a particular ink?

My temptation is to buy a set off Amazon of colored lightfast inks and just go at it......

Thanks for any input

David
