Got it. There is an app available to make forums more accessible on smartphones. I will look into it. I believe it is a mod or plugin I can install. But I will need to research it to make sure it is stable before installing it. Thanks for bringing this topic to my attention.  :)

I'm sorry about the stressful family situation, Daisy. But it is funny you should mention that about FB. Since starting the forum, I realized how many hours (and I mean HOURS) I wasted on FB every day. And most of the time, it wasn't really making me feel good but riled up about something silly. Now, I just breeze through once in awhile and catch all the good things going on. It's really made such a positive impact. Thank you for sharing!  :)

That's awesome Ellen!

I'm happy it has helped so much. It is amazing how one little thing can make such a big difference. I'm so glad it has helped. Your lettering is looking great!  :)

Introductions / Re: Bonjour! Hello from France by an engraver
« on: March 13, 2014, 08:20:33 PM »
Welcome Jean!

I am so tickled you shared your beautiful work and pens with us! These are truly a delight to behold. Those pens! Swoon! Je les adore! (It's been many years since college French!) Your engraving is just lovely.

I love the thickness of the wood holders and the simple design of the wood next to the beautiful flourished flange. So unique!

I am fascinated with engraving. I have never seen it with color added. Very beautiful!

Again welcome to Flourish and thank you for sharing with us!

Oh, I got it ... because you would necessarily need internet connection, right?

It depends on what I am addressing. If it is with, say parchment envelopes, definitely would use it. Depends on the project really. But it is definitely my go-to ink for any reproduction work.

Hmmm... I'll have to think on that one. I am teaching myself how to write apps though. I'm just not sure what the benefit would be over the forum format. Any thoughts are welcome!  :D

Show & Tell / Calligraphy Valentine Exchange 2014
« on: March 13, 2014, 06:56:38 PM »
I think everyone has finally received my Valentine for the exchange. I didn't want to share this before everyone received it. These were quite a project and I loved every minute of it. I made 20 of them and it took me about 8 days in total.

I did the calligraphy out, then scanned it and printed it on cotton muslin. I then stitched the hearts together and used crimping scissors to cut the edges. I tried out my new Silhoutte Cameo to cut out the red flourish and sewed it to the heart using gold thread. Finally, I made the little card to be tucked into the ribbon pocket on the back.

The envelopes were done using a Dover clip art frame. I then did out the addresses and scanned each one to size it into the frame and so I could cut it on the Cameo. I didn't want anything to get messed up in the mail, so the completed Valentine was gently tucked inside a clear envelope.

I was disappointed in myself because they took so long to make, they actually arrived late for those outside the U.S. But I suppose looking back on it, no one will remember they were late!  ;D

Marcia,
That is great to hear! So even though it is one of the most expensive laser papers, it is really more cost effective than any "art" paper. And I just love the surface. Glad it is working well for you, too. Free shipping to your door - hooray!  ;D
