Ampersand
« on: July 26, 2015, 10:46:05 AM »
I'm sorry if I'm in the wrong place but....

I don't know how to write an ampersand. :(
Whenever I try to write it, they'd look horrible!
Can anyone help me how to write them nicely? Like the basic strokes of any ampersand, please?

Thank you so much! <3

Sandee,

I know where you're coming from!  I just tagged you in an IG video I did a while ago before realizing I should just put the link in here (duh. sorry.). https://instagram.com/p/xPhPWnpm4l/?taken-by=inky_bianca

It's one of many ways to do an ampersand, but I hope it helps.  I struggle with the version of ampersands that take on the backward S shape, but I love this form, and variations of it.  Hopefully others will have tips on the alternate form as well...  Have fun practicing!

If you're looking for how to make the ampersand that you see on the keyboard, here's a very quickly (and poorly) executed one showing the steps I make. If the ink is too wet, as you see in step 3, you may want to do the typical technique of stopping just shy of the big shaded line. If I'm in a hurry and just writing, I'll do steps 2, 3 and 4 in one motion.

I didn't try to make it too nice, but at least it gives you the idea for how to make this kind of ampersand.
