Hello there!

Hi everyone. My name is Kat, and I'm from the Philippines.

My first brush with calligraphy was in first grade, although back then it was just practice for us to write nicely. My school had all its students practice writing for an hour everyday, and from the get go, we used fountain pens. Initially it was just writing letters, until we started writing quotes. Did this until we finished (the equivalent of middle school). I don't have any formal training when it comes to calligraphy, but I do want to learn so I'm reading up and trying to find classes. Still plenty of things I need to improve on. :)

Hi Kat.  You came to a great place if you are learning.  There are a lot of tutorial, pointers, examples, and very helpful people here.  The "Flourish Forum » Tutorials » Pointed Pen Nirvana board" is a great place to start.

Welcome, Kat.  How lucky for you that you were able to learn calligraphy so young.  I wish my school had offered that- I'd have been in heaven. :)
