Hello! I'm new, and so stoked to have found this forum.
My name is Ealasaid,* I live in Portland, OR with my partner and our three cats. I work as a technical writer to pay the bills, but am a bookbinder and movie reviewer on the side. My interest in Bullet Journal stuff led me to the Instagram BuJo community, which got me into fountain pens, which got me interested in lettering. I've started working through the Spencerian Penmanship theory and copy books set, and am finding the drills really meditative and relaxing.
I have a handful of chronic health conditions, and my hands aren't as steady as they used to be. I'm hoping that the discipline of doing drills and writing with a light and easy hand will help me get some of my manual precision back.
Looking forward to getting to know folks!
Cheers,
Ealasaid
*Yep, it's my actual first name. My parents are ... unusual.
It's Scots Gaelic and is roughly cognate to Elizabeth. In my family, we pronounce it "EL-ah-sade," like "lemonade." I know it's not the standard Scots Gaelic pronunciation, but we've been using it for almost 40 years now, so I'm sticking with ours.
