Salvete from Houston
« on: August 09, 2018, 02:36:46 PM »
Hello All,

I was directed to this forum by The Postman's Knock and am thrilled to know you exist.  I am a Latin teacher by trade (and passion), and have enjoyed calligraphy since high school. There was a looong break when raising children that I hardly picked up a pen, but I find myself with a little more time these days, and a definite desire to practice and improve my skills. There is so much wonderful information and expertise available here, I am looking forward to diving in.

Thank you for your welcome.

Jen

Welcome, @Jennifer_J .  I also enjoy Latin, and I have thought that there are Latin words which would be very good for calligraphy practice.  One that comes to mind is "huius", this should be a good word to use to focus on uniform letter spacing.

Welcome Jennifer!  Latin - how wonderful.  I studied it in college with priests as teachers, and while I've forgotten the majority of what I learned, it helped me understand the English language better.  I still flip through my dictionary now and then.

Anyhow, enjoy your calligraphy practice!
