Graphics tablet recommendations
« on: January 29, 2017, 08:30:32 AM »
Hi everyone!

I'm looking to buy a graphics tablet to help with digitising my calligraphy, Wacom is my preferred choice, does anyone have any recommendations? I've looked into the different Wacom models but get confused as I can't figure out which would be best for what I want to use it for!

Also which programmes/software would you recommend?

Thank you
Sarah

Been using a Wacom Intuos 2 6"x8" for years for Photoshop.  I find 6"x8" the perfect size for me.

The stylus is pressure sensitive which helps for line variation.

Here's Wacom's website:

So many choices, but I'm sure you'll find one that fits your needs and budget.

I talked to Mary Kate McDevitt about this and she told me that she uses a Wacom Cintiq 24"
and that is superb, I was unsure about getting the iPad Pro and the iPencil so I brought it up to her
and she told me that that is what she uses
she also said that if I didn't want to spend that much to get a much smaller one

Hope that helps

Did you ever end up getting the Wacom cinq? My son has asked for a tablet for illustration for Christmas and I was going to get him an iPad Pro but he wants it for his computer so this makes sense. Do you know if Mary Kate uses Illustrator with it? I love ProCreate but I don’t think it’s available for computers. Any thoughts are welcome!  ;D

@Erica McPhee Yes that's what Mary Kate used to use but I'm sure she has switched to procreate now and I finally decided to buy the ipad pro and the apple pencil because procreate is amazing, plus there's illustrator for ipad now and there's a program by adobe called "adobe fresco" so I feel that this was the best choice for me, but to be honest I don't know if the tablet has more functions with illustrator

Thanks so much! I almost bought the iPad Pro a week ago... now it is sold out until mid-January.   :(  Oh well - he wanted it for his PC anyway so I went ahead and got the Wacom. Thanks for the input!  ;D
