Gary, I think you're probably right on both accounts.
Christopher, I see what you're saying.
I'm a big supporter of buying local and/or supporting small businesses. This store has only just started hosting modern calligraphy workshops & I think those are the people they're stocking for. On the other hand, if you're a painter (watercolor, oil, mixed media, etc) they've got you covered and the staff is VERY knowledgeable in that regard. Their paper room is amazing and they've just opened a ceramics/pottery room! Also they're great at promoting art in the community (for adults, youth & kids).
I'm just little surprised by this lady's response. I think as I get more knowledgeable about what I need/want maybe I'll be able to get them to order somethings for me.
