I did this a few years ago on Instagram and it was really fun. I posted a bunch of Copperplate and Spencerian capitals behind a “door” image each day until Christmas. Instead of posting a bunch of pictures, I am going to post one with all the variants on it, each day until Christmas. Feel free to comment or add some variants.
These are capitals I am playing around with in ProCreate on the ipad and will some day translate to pen and ink if possible. I love ProCreate for the free flowing pen tool and ability to redo as many times as I need without wasting paper or ink. It doesn’t always translate to pen and ink later because of the pressure and directions I go, but still a useful exercise. :)
Hope it inspires you to play and create your own! :-*
If you click on the photo, you can see a higher res version and each letter up close.

Just wanted to add, you can click on the photo for a higher resolution version and see each letter up close. Also, I edited the first three images so each letter is a different color which helps to differentiate. ;)

@Erica McPhee
Nice.
I certainly have a vested interest in "M."
Explain again, if you will, how you are drawing these?

Thanks @AnasaziWrites ! I use ProCreate on the ipad and an ipad pencil. The “nib” I use is a brush based on the Leonardt Principal nib. It’s a great way to practice and do layout which I can then use on a light board with pen and ink. These are the result of hours of play seeing what I can come up with. The nice thing about their execution is that I can make a shade on both downstrokes and upstrokes.
Eventually, I will try to create these same letters using pen and ink. For now, it’s an excellent way to invent new ones, see what is successful, and what isn’t without wasting paper, ink, and nib. Although I know for sure, some of these will never translate to pen and ink.

Beautiful series and I am wondering how I missed this thread ???
My favourite letter is D and I love your letter D too !!!
-
@Erica McPhee . I am revisiting to -do study on your series . What ink you used here please.
Is it Ecoline Water-base Ink. ??? Beautiful hair lines too..
-
Hi @Cyril Jayant - these were done in ProCreate. So no ink. It’s a bit of cheating because you can apply shades where ever you want without turning your page. I know some of the letters can be done with pen and ink, but I would imagine some would give some trouble. :)

Thank you @Erica McPhee ,,
I am so silly I did not read the first heading post you did with the link.
Yes I am a bit silly . I agree I did not read but just studied your work. So it clearly says about ProCreate .
It is very well done.
By the way I wan't to get into that but I need a iPad. ( I already have a very very old I pad but it is mostly dead :P so I need to up grade to a Pro series. But Unlike older days I never buy a brand new or latest version .
I was once an idiot and I always bought the latest. Not any more I. Never ever but any latest Apple products. I buy the older versions and see I could do what I want.EX. Recently last month I bought my iMac update ( an Older version ) and it will again run for another 8 years ahead. As a photographer I bought My First Leica ( during 1998 as a second hand ) and it will be as it is until I my last age. ;D but I am waiting to choose an iPad Pro to do DiGITAL CALLIGRAPHY. I have seen many work on digital and very impressive.
But I am heavily investing into manual calligraphy yet, and learn the organic writing and I know digital work is "" PEA NUTS "" in many essence in a skilful hand.
Thank you Erica I always appreciate your impressive work. Cheerssss!!!-Cyril
