Spencerian Script / Re: Love for Writing

When I was learning Copperplate, I practiced 1 hour per day, Monday - Thursday.  I practiced 4 hours on Friday & 8 hours on Saturday and Sunday!  (Yes, I go to church on Sunday!  Sundays were really busy!)  I was DETERMINED to conquer Copperplate! I don’t think I would have made it with any less effort!!  I’m still “a hack” (unlike experts like @Ken Fraser & @Erica McPhee!), but it’s really pretty writing & I get hired enough to suit me and provide me an outlet for my creative urges!

@Ken Fraser I love this!  How did you get the bottom of the letters to be black??  I’m not sure how to make such great variations in the color of letters!

In the US, we have 2 major holidays that feature fireworks. - New Year’s Eve & the 4th of July (“Independence Day”).  Fireworks are only sold about 2 weeks or so prior to the holiday.  (In Texas, they can generally only be sold outside of the town’s municipal jurisdiction, or “out of the city limits”.  You can buy everything from “sparklers” (no bang/explosions) to rockets, etc.  The worst part is that it often freaks out pet dogs. - They break out of their yards/pens, etc. & become lost.  It’s crazy & sometimes it takes weeks to get everything all sorted out.  It’s fun for humans. For pets, not so much! 😃

That’s what my friend, Google, said! 😃. We American just call it “New Year’s Eve”!  We celebrate that with dressy parties & music & then pretty & loud fireworks at midnight. At least, around here!  (I’m in the Texas Panhandle!). They may do it differently in others parts of the United States!). I LOVE regional differences! 😃

I can’t believe that I’ve been a member for so long!  I feel like I stumbled into Flourish just recently!  I have learned so much from being here!  It has encouraged me on my calligraphy journey! I have made many Flouish friends & I have been privileged to actually meet a few of them in person at calligraphy workshops and at IAMPETH.  I have learned more here at the Forum than at any other meeting or workshop. I thank my many mentors who have helped me improve my script, amateurish as it is!!

I use an iPhone!  It was terribly expensive!  But, it works great!! 😃. I have an iPhone 11 & it works great!  I have been an iPhone enthusiast for years!  Don’t “fix it” if it ain’t broke!!
