« on: November 27, 2015, 02:27:17 AM »
This might interest history buffs these are Medieval Scripts and Classic Typefaces.   in my research of  the different scripts this website actually offers quite a bit in the visual history of Gothic and other scripts of the medieval period  although there is much more history leading to their development  this site has some wonderful exemplars.

Introductions / Hi new here
« on: November 14, 2015, 10:57:13 AM »
Hi
Ive been trying to do spencerian and engrossing, mainly spencerian for about 3 months now and struggling horribly Ive been just about ready to hang it up... Fortunately, I remembered Joyce Myers saying they have a forum for everything on the internet now, so I was lucky enough to find you guys...
Ive been on the Impeth sight and been working off the manuals etc available but I think I'm at the end of self study and practice with out some critique from someone who has been there. I think I'm just doing pages of the same thing over and over even though Ive been studying as much as practicing.
Its odd I've been enamored with calligraphy for many years for some reason and started collecting fountain pens mistakingly thinking thats what they used.
After lurking on this forum and seeing work done by Ken, Shin, Chen, Geoff, and others on this sight I've finally worked up enough nerve to ask for some guidance and criticism in hopes i might be able to do a passable couple of hands. Exciting really.

I hope I'm not intruding or presumptuous in my introduction.

I build acoustic and jazz guitars for a living and thus have some pretty cool and rare woods and have been making my own nib holders, mainly oblique, in fact Im having a ball with that so much I'm not getting my work done.

Thanks all for creating this sight and all the great folks contributing, I know this seems to be a rare art form but curiously its what I've always been drawn to but never knew were to turn.
Appreciative Randy
