I thought it would be great to start a thread of just photos from previous exchanges. This way people can get a glimpse of what others send. Here is mine from the summer exchange 2014.

Thank you! The postcards were die cut by the printers. I cut the mini-valentine (which tucked into the back of the fabric heart) on my Silhouette machine and handcut the envelope labels with funky scissors. :)
They're also so gorgeous. I can't wait until I do my first exchange and have something to share. :)

Here it is my first exchange, autumn 2014.
I wrote a quote in Italic on a Card, wrapped with transparent paper and matched with a real leaf took in my garden.
The challenge for me was finding an idea feasible for 7 people meeting the deadline.

Here it is my Winter/Holiday exchange.
I prepared Xmas decorations Made of chalk. I wrote for each one 4 Messages/whishes changing colours of paper and ink.

This was for the winter exchange.

Here's one of my Blue exchange cards all together.
These were done extremely on the cheap - I bought some blue A5 card, painted the flower outlines, used 23ct gold leaf to gild three sections on each flower, then did the calligraphy and then painted in the colour. To get the colours I used ultramarine + zinc white gouache in three different ratios - light, medium, dark. That's my cheat's way of making sure all the colours blend ... it's all just one colour!
Things I'd change: I think I would paint the petals before doing the calligraphy next time as it looks very amateur with the colour not meeting the letters. I will also not be using that brand of cardboard again as it was bleedy to the max! And I would have worked harder for consistent coverage with that background painting - maybe I'd use acrylic or watercolour instead of gouache. Things just weren't going my way that day.
The overall effect came out OK, though. And I look at it every time as: each exchange is something new to learn :)

I sent slight variations of this design for the Holiday Exchange 2014. The shimmery blank notecards are from PaperSource, then I hand lettered everything with Moon Palace Sumi ink & dual tip Touch markers (my latest obsession!)

Here's my Christmas card design from 2014. i think I posted pics from most of the other exchanges in the exchange threads themselves already :).
The original of the card was written with Ziller's Glossy Black on Borden & Riley layout paper (the Ziller's is much more dense than the walnut ink I usually use, so it scans better, especially hairlines), after I made A LOT of pencil sketches. I worked in several layers – the lettering and main flourishing was on one, for the rest of the flourishing I tried different versions on different sheets of the transluscet layout paper and merged them then in Photoshop. Finally the design was reversed so I had a 'negative', and chose a light blue on a beautiful pearly paper my online printer offers. On the back are only some snowflakes.
The envelopes are from Artoz, handmade cotton paper 'Rondo', lovely to write on, I used walnut ink and 'Polar Blue' metallic ink by Kallipos.
Was a lot of fun, I did nearly a 100 envelopes and cards as I sent some also to wedding planners in Germany :)! Great practice too!
'Frohe Weihnacht' simply means 'merry Christmas'. Not very creative with the copy ;D.

You're not alone Kate - I saw these and had a total freak out, too. Then I picked my jaw up, took a deep breath and decided to just have fun. Folks will be getting an experimental, sorta messy, but made with love valentine from me. :)

You don't have to measure up to anyone but yourself!!! This forum is all about progress, not judgement. Anything that is sent with love will be a treasure!!! No one is going to be upset to get something other than a bill in their mailbox.... :) I promise!!!!

I send some over the top envelopes but absolutely do not expect something crazy back... I love all the envelopes I get from everyone, beginners and veterans alike, and as long as you do your best and put in some effort, it goes into my scrapbook!
Don't worry about being a beginner.. we all start somewhere.. I have received some pretty bad exchanges (not from Flourish!) where the person practically used folded lined notebook paper and some squiggly lines using ballpoint pen.. that I don't like even from a beginner.. as long as you send something from your heart (nothing is worse than no-shows!), it is all good and welcome!

I feel like I improved a lot! Confidence was up, and there was a lot more practice under my belt, haha. Plus, getting cards from so many people of varying skill levels with different creative brains and interests is SUPER inspiring. Exchanges are my favorite!

My favorite exchange so far was the Halloween/Day of the Dead exchange. I had just finished my Beginner Spencerian class so I used Spencerian to write the last name and address. I like to create a contrast in words, so I added the Pointed Textura (Gothic) for the first names. It was fun to drool the ink from the serifs/stems by swiveling the nib to a point (I over did to create more drama in the letters). I am not skilled with broad pen hands as I would like to be, but I am putting the time in. In high school I wanted to go to college for medical illustration. I even found a college, but then I found out I had to buy a cadaver (dead body), so I decided that was not for me. (I faint when I see blood.) So I drew skeleton bone hands holding a card with the address and info to get out those past creative feeling I had.

In high school I wanted to go to college for medical illustration. I even found a college, but then I found out I had to buy a cadaver (dead body), so I decided that was not for me. (I faint when I see blood.)
These are amazing! You always go above and beyond! Maybe you could do candy medical illustrations. Draw sugar skulls and those bone sweet tarts...

Oh, I love seeing all your photos!! Here is my Inspiring Quote. It is from a poem by Gustavo Adolfo Bécquer, a spanish poet from 19th century. I sent it in the original spanish, but also added a translation for everyone to understand ;)
It says "El alma que hablar puede con los ojos, también puede besar con la mirada" which means something like "A soul that can talk with its eyes, can also kiss with a look".

One hundred words! I decided against a 24-word quote (including the attribution) because it felt too long for my nascent skills (and the stationery I wanted to use). Hats off to you. Beautifully-consistent spacing, too.

So this isn't strictly a normal picture of the exchanges, but I felt it belonged here. I've received so many wonderful letters through the exchanges they were starting to overflow my box where I keep my letters.
So I cut a piece of fabric, tied them up and transferred them to an empty cardboard box that will start holding my older letters that I don't want to let go of. But of course I had to take a picture of them and share of the pile all tied up.

I forgot to take a photo of what I sent for the Birds, Bees, Flowers, Trees exchange, but I did scan what went in the envelopes. It was really fun to work on these. I used McCaffery's green ink and colored pencils. The letters are inspired by the "Rustic" lettering by Daniel T. Ames.

I installed some tackboards right above my desk -- after each exchange, I have a whole new theme decorating my "studio"! It's so fun to have it changing all the time. These are my Birds, Bees, Flowers & Trees (plus some other stuff), soon to be replaced with Flight of the Feathers '16.

I made some cards for the Flight of the Feathers exchange, but did not join in because I am going through a lot of medical treatment. I sent this card to Erica.
There is a stack of letters on my desk that need to be answered. If I owe you a letter, please be patient! When I'm feeling better and there is less chaos in my life, I will be back to writing.

After a near catastrophe with my last exchange photos (thanks again @AnasaziWrites!), I thought I'd go ahead and post them here. I've not heard back from anyone on my list – so I'm keeping my fingers crossed that they made it to their destinations. (I tried using spoiler tags to hide the photos just in case, but I couldn't quite get it to work)
I sent what may be the ugliest USPS boxes ever to hold my exchanges. But the contents inside included a folded set of instructions and a folded map with a hand-cut paper wrap around it.

The center rings of the map can be turned. When they arrived, they were purposely wrong, so that the recipients could try and solve the riddle. When aligned (as seen in the photo) you can read the answer to the riddle – if you look carefully.
If (and this was a huge if) everything lined up just right, and the recipient pressed down in just the right spots... and the calligraphy fairies were smiling at just the right angle – it was supposed to light up.

I am one of the fortunate ones to have received this particular exchange, and, having participated in more than 20 exchanges, this submission was the most creative, fun, delightful one I have received to date. I cannot imagine how much work was involved in making it. Big, big fun. Can you solve the riddle with the answer before you?

Awwww – thanks! Actually I ended up making 5 total. (I got overly excited once I got the first one to work). It was my first advanced exchange, and it said that some extra effort was kind of expected, so....
I really like maps.
And if you put enough stuff and twists and bad puns and hidden messages, the recipients may be a little less likely to notice the still-not-quite-right letterforms so much. :)

Thanks to Janice, Erica & Anika for the encouraging words about my feather with the apple blossoms. Erica, I would not have posted if I'd known you had not opened your mail - sorry! What will power you have. I open everything immediately. Or did your really just misplace all your mail after your move? hehehe.
No pen fun for me yet. :P I'm either at the medical clinic or I'm sleeping. Sometimes I wake up and then I console myself by watching Doctor Who. Funny. You'd think I'd be sick of anything with the word "doctor" in it.
I hope everyone will post pictures of their exchanges so I can live vicariously.
