I wish that was the case also in Italy, but it's not.
My Christmas cards stopped being dropped in my mailbox Dec 22nd... I only got 3 out of the winter exchange and hope for the rest to arrive soon...  :-\ :'(
By the way, I have a postwoman  ;D  delivering my mail! I have to talk to her one day  ;)

Spencerian Script / Re: Spencerian Capital Variations Exemplars
« on: October 26, 2014, 03:13:45 AM »
That is wonderful, thanks for sharing this Amy!
I didn't take Harvest's online Spence class, but I have fun trying the OP variations in more shaded Engrosser style ;) a kind of mess!

Totally agree with Debbie and Elsa, I get frustrated by the hard navigation on the Iampeth site... if you consider that I don't speak English as a native language, that can get even more frustrating!  :'(

Wonderful article Star, thanks for sharing.
I took the test and I'm a thinking introvert as well... did they have only 2 results?
LoL @Andy: being English should definitely go amongst the test results!!

I'm just tooooo late for this thread, but wanted to say that Natascha's and your experience, that you kindly shared here, are of great help.

Agree with Stefanie. Stiff nibs are better for small x-height.
By the way, who says that we have to write everything with a nib?!
;)

Tools & Supplies / Re: Trading post
« on: September 20, 2014, 09:41:09 AM »
I stumbled across these strange German nibs on Ebay. I personally never saw them, but they're really fun to use.
The strokes are parallel, one is thinner and the other one is thicker.
I find the final effect very interesting.
I have 10 to trade.
I'm looking for boad pen nibs (small).

Broad Edge Pen Calligraphy / Re: Italic Handwriting

This is amazing. You really own a document dating back to the 17th century?! That is 6 generations behind you!
How do you keep it safe from humidity and bacteria and everything? Paper must be very delicate to handle!

(I saw something from my great grandfather, only 3 generations behind, and I saw it when I was nearly more than a child. I don't know where that document is; must ask my mother.)

Thank you for sharing this.
The capital S {which seems flourished if I can see well} is beautiful!
It's difficult indeed. I would have read Sinbleborough in the name, instead of Singlebourgh.
And the way the "h" was written after the t is very interesting to me (different from other h shapes which are written how we know it).
Do you know where did that shape come from?

Thank you for sharing :)

Tools & Supplies / Re: Scanners,Printers & Colored Paper
« on: September 15, 2014, 04:46:36 PM »
Hello Lauren, I personally have  Canon scanner/printer (max scanning at 600dpi) and have Staples 80g colored paper which only works with sandarac powder. But it's very beautiful for calligraphy printing :)
There are so many brands and models.
Do you have a specific work in mind for which you're asking?
Maybe more details will help others in giving you better advice ;)

OMG Grace, that is stunning! Your hubby is stunning!
You're lucky... my husband would even not remember the name of one nib!
:D
Can't wait to see your first calligraphy with those tubes!!
