Open Flourish | General Discussion / Spencerian Connective slant angle

Hello folks,
I am looking for a technical answer to my query - and frustration.
I am learning Spencerian using Mott Media's "Spencerian System of pracitcal Penmanship" workbooks.
In the theory, they mention that the connective slant is 30 degrees. I went onto measure the slants and they are not 30 but any where between 35-40- mostly around 37 degrees.
What does that mean?
Did they mess up during printing process- you know how while working in MS Word/Office , we try to adjust or change an image size by dragging the margins of the image, and in the process, end up distorting it slightly making an oblong into a round or a round into a slight oblong. Any comments? This is driving me nuts. Cant progress till I get an answer to this.
