Title: Flourished animals - Balderic van Horicke
Post by: AAAndrew on September 30, 2020, 09:46:35 AM
Jill Gage, a curator from the Newberry Library in Chicago just tweeted out a series of images from a book by Balderic van Horicke (Brussels, 1633) in their collection. I just had to share these with you all.

A lion, a camel and stork, a reclining man, wonderful owls, and what I think is an otter.

@AAAndrew Do you have Schin Loong's new book?  She has some fantastic drawings of animals!  She is a force of nature! :-)  She was supposed to teach at IAMPETH this summer & her course was advertised that she could teach "anyone" to draw animals with calligraphy.  I was prepared to challenge her, as I am 100% drawing impaired! :-)  You can get both of her books at John Neal & PIA.

@Erica McPhee Schin has more talent in her little finger than I have in my entire body!  I met her at IAMPETH in Portland & she is super nice!

She is very talented (but don't sell yourself short). Schin and I are besties.  :D
