Han's Thousand Character Classic
« on: March 30, 2017, 10:38:32 PM »
The Thousand Character Classic has been used as a primer for learning Chinese characters for many centuries in Korea. The prominent calligrapher of Korea, Han Seok-Bong, have produced a script that was taught was standardized throughout the Korean peninsula.

It is notable that his calligraphy was well-known throughout the oriental calligraphers and he can be compared to the George Bickham of the West.

Is there someplace we can see some of the work? I have always been interested in learning chinese calligraphy as my father is 1/2 Chinese.

In that case, I'd start with a kaishu rendition (i.e. in regular Chinese script) of that:

The images with the red square grids and dotted diagonals seem to show the modern way of teaching learners how to correctly position and proportion each glyph within the square.
