Title: Where are my "likes"?
Post by: Terasleen on September 16, 2016, 10:46:36 PM
Apologies in advance ....but, when I hit the "like" button where is my list of likes or how do I find all the likes I have liked?

(Good grief...I have said like, like 6 times...LOL) :o

Thank You!

That is not an option available on here. I think. Erica will correct me if I am wrong.

Its unlikely to have track of number of 'likes' you have liked @Terasleen  ;)
Wow it rhymed so well... :D

I had the same question, @Terasleen.  I would welcome any corrections, but as nearly as I can tell, when you like a post, that action has no consequences or record outside of that one post.  And the only action that affect Karma is when someone hits the applaud button.  "Applause" retains no link to the specific post that is applauded, just adds to the Karma rating of the forum member who is applauded.

I agree that it would be really nice if within the forum we could access the posts that we have liked or applauded, but I think from other threads this is not easily possible--would welcome any corrections on this.

Great questions. As of right now, the modification (mod as it is called) does not track likes except for the post itself.

There is a mod I can purchase which will track both all of your likes and which posts you have liked. The only problem I foresee is that it may do away with the applause.

There is a distinct difference between the two. The applause is a way of thanking someone for what they have shared. The like button is simply that, you like the post.

If members are interested in the alternate like button which tracks likes you have given, likes you have received, and which posts have the most likes, I'm happy to pursue it.

There is also another mod which shows who "applauded" you and for which post. Again, I'm not sure if it can be used simultaneously with the other like mod. But this is an option as well.

I'm open to your thoughts!  :)

If possible...I vote for the like button that tracts all of your likes and which post you have liked.  A way to keep up with comments that you can use or need for future reference that you may have forgotten exactly where it was.  Hopefully by likening a persons comment the person would take it as a complement, a thank you, applause, etc.

Thank you @Erica McPhee for all the hard work you do!

I agree with @Terasleen.  It seems like the forum has grown so large, with so much great information, that being able to track things one has liked would be very valuable.  Those new to the forum, like myself, can invest a lot of (very happy) time exploring and finding posts that are valuable to them, and the ability to return easily to these using the "like" function would be helpful.

Thanks @Erica McPhee for making this such a great forum for learning and sharing, and I certainly defer to what the group thinks on this.

Hi @Erica McPhee,

That's sound like an interesting mod for "applaude" It would be wonderful to know for which, what reason you got applauded.
I remember finding quite a lot of details at the bottom of the page and it was quite elaborate.
If I'm not mistaken it tells you who was wrote how many post, who started how many thread, number of new joiners... etc.

@Erica McPhee I forgot to mention that I did notice the word "purchase".

I don't know or can't even imagine what it takes to run a forum like this!

This forum is like being a kid in a candy store...I want it all...LOL.  But seriously, I completely understand so, whatever you choose to do is perfectly fine with me and I will love this forum regardless.

Should a mod like that be free of cost, I wouldn't have minded asking for it. However it is NOT needed at all as a paid mod. (Unless @Erica McPhee  succumbs to what all of us have been asking for for AGES, a donate button :D)

I'm open to your thoughts!  :)
A needless complication and unnecessary expense for the forum (you).
It seems every website is obsessed with likes and feedback. Spend more time with pen in hand versus tracking likes and applause and who gave them to you and why.

I agree with @AnasaziWrites. Likes and applaud will follow with the skill you develop over the period of time.
