I was just wondering what your go-to pens and tools are? The ones you carry around with you in your purse or bag?

I know I'm a big hoarder when it comes to pens in my purse, but I always have these few staples...

- Pentel Quicker Clicker Mechanical Pencil - This has always been my go-to favorite  .
- Foray Tungsten Carbide Retractable Ballpoint Pen - I'm not big on ball point, but these babies are pretty sexy looking with their subtly sparkly barrel; and for quick meeting notes they're pretty smooth.
- Pentel Sign Pen - a total dream brush pen. I love this for playing around or practicing make-shift copperplate in random places. 
- Posca Paint Pen in 0.7mm - This is one of my favorite "for fun" pens I carry!
- 6" Ruler - I can't leave home without this handy tool... seriously.
- Burts Bees Wax Medicated Chapstick with Clove Oil - I'm pretty sure they're discontinuing this and I'm absolutely devastated... I'm not sure if this is a super common thing (it definitely runs in my family), but whenever I'm getting creative my tongue comes out or my lip goes in, resulting in chapped lips for days! Yikes!

Natascha! I was just about to start a new thread about this article I found, but it fits in right here! He goes in to great detail on a larger number of notebooks and notes if they are good for fountain pen... I'm assuming if they're good for fountain pen they would work with pointed pen inks as well.  Hope this helps!

Hi Prasad, thank you for your advice! I actually used an acrlya for my ink when I did this, so I was mostly having trouble figuring out what consistency I needed to mix.  I do use guide sheets and here I was using one with overlapping acenders and decenders. When I'm writing I try to think about the space between the letters being equal, I just having trouble keeping consistent in that area... Do these guidelines give you the width and spacing as well?

Update - I generated some of the guidelines with spacing lines and look forward to printing them out and trying them. Thanks!

Kind Critique / First critique!

Hi flourish fam!

I've never actually shown anyone my calligraphy aside my family.  Would you critique me?!

I had a little trouble with ink consistency (I was mixing an acryla gouache), so some of my letters got a little blobby and some of my hairlines are extremely light.  I also have trouble with even spacing between letters, so any tips on how to train myself in that would be much appreciated!

I got got mine last night!!!

They are so beautiful and I was completely overwhelmed as I held them in my hand. I read Erica's first letter from the editor and was completely moved. Thank you Erica, for the ways that you have touched us, inspired us, and grown us.  I can honestly say that my journey will forever be impacted by your passion and love for this community.

I might be going to the National Stationery Show for work in New York City in May and I wondered if anyone has been before or is planning on going? It looks like a ton of fun, but I don't know a lot about it. Would love to hear your thoughts if you've been, or maybe meet up if we both end up going!
