Welcome to the forum.

That's strange. Paper source hasn't publicly announced any discontinuation and you can still buy those colors online. Are you certain it's not just your particular store that won't be carrying them anymore?

I think it's every store.  She also said this store had twice shipped a color to others that had sold out.  She could have been wrong, but she appeared to know what she was talking about.

I was recently in Paper Source, and a saleswoman told me that the chain will be discontinuing the chocolate, fig, and persimmon colors.  I asked when this would take place, and she said they simply wouldn't be getting any more, and that the current stock was all that was available.  So, if you like those colors, you may want to stock up.

Welcome.  It's fun having an Internet connection, isn't it?  If you haven't seen Schin's calligraphy videos on YouTube, I'd highly recommend doing so.  It's fun to see somebody so skillful.  Just go to YouTube and search for OpenInkStand.

Welcome.  Which pointed nib did you try?  That can have a lot to do with how much it snags.  The paper can, too.  Erica's recommended products could help you with that a lot:

Welcome to the forum, Kelvin.  I saw your beautiful calligraphy on Instagram.  Very careful and precise.

Forgive me for shouting, but this one has been very important for me, lately:

Welcome.  I'm sure you'll find your design background to be very helpful with the letterforms.

Welcome.  Don't worry about using an oblique holder.  It looks different, but after using it for a few minutes, it feels natural (that's how it was for me, at least).

Tools & Supplies / Re: What firm-flex (semi-flex) nibs do you like to use?

Tachikawa 'G' is my favorite.  Smooth on both downstrokes and upstrokes, and consistent flow.  Plus, the hairlines can be pretty fine.
