I might have a solution.  I do botanical art (watercolor and graphite), which also demands tee-tiny precise work.  I find that after my mandatory and beloved 3 mugs of super strong morning coffee my detail work suffers.  Okay, it's impossible.  So, rather than give up my coffee altogether, in the morning I study my subject, make my notes, prepare for painting.  I leave the fine line and detail work for the afternoon, during which time I go caffeine-free.  For myself, decaf isn't pointless because I love the flavor of coffee.  But I do understand the energy that one gets/needs from coffee.  There is a point where my body switches its "interpretation" of caffeine from energy to jitters LOL.  I've looked at other artists' pieces, and admired the clear control of lines and thought to myself, "Wow.  That's afternoon work!"

Anyway, good luck!  You'll find your balance.

@AnasaziWrites    I do absolutely love it, despite its being completely impractical.  But then again I'm fond of many things that aren't practical!  😁  It does have an glass insert.  But no maker's mark.  (I have been trying to post a photo of it open, showing the glass insert, but I am failing.  Makes me think that previous photo postings were a fluke and luck, even though I think I'm doing everything the same. I'm new, so it is doubtless User Error.)

I'll try to post to the great inkwells thread.  Thank you for the link! 

And yes, Eagle Eye, that is an Art Deco martini shaker.  Again... for the "pretty."

As I mentioned in my introductory greeting, I've been captivated by (but not done) beautiful lettering for most of my life.  I drooled over handwriting, pored over books.  And paper.  Ooooh paper!   I spent my allowance on stationery.   I got calligraphy kits.  I bought dip pens and even a Murano glass nib holder without even knowing how to use them.  I fell in love with an antique inkwell.  This inkwell.  It is one of my prized possessions.   I don't plan using it for anything more than admiring it.  But if anyone has information on the era, how it was used, etc. I would love to know more.
