Greetings from Delaware
« on: February 15, 2015, 07:44:39 PM »
As a young man I was really “into” italic.  Now, newly retired and picking up on things never had time for, I have gone headfirst into copperplate and modern styles.  Yes, I wondered if I still had a steady enough hand.  With new supplies and determination (AND, of course, many days of feeling like OMG, this is not getting easier), I can report that it did get better – and one day it sorta just clicked; I vowed then never to laugh again when I read about muscle memory. So I’ve been on every website imaginable, bought “how-to” books, and even occasionally white-lie when my wife asks:  “Are you STILL online with the calligraphy thing?”  “No, I’m just checking email and reading…”  (After 42 years, I’m allowed to do that!  ;D )

"You know you're a calligrapher when..." --- got lots of em'.

Anyway – older, wiser, and havin’ the time of my life with copperplate!  And every time my grandkids visit they ask me to write their name “fancy”.
This forum is a treasure trove -  but, as a techno/social media dinosaur I am trying to learn all the navigation stuff so I have more time to practice!

Welcome to the forum Arlen!!!! Loved your intro, and how fun for your grandkids to have their names inked in your calligraphy!

You better start being straight up with your wife--now that you've found the forum, she's going to start to wonder....:)

Your grandkids are lucky to see their name fancy. I used to love seeing my grandma's handwriting, I treasure the notes she's written me in her beautiful script.

Enjoy your time here!
