As a young man I was really “into” italic. Now, newly retired and picking up on things never had time for, I have gone headfirst into copperplate and modern styles. Yes, I wondered if I still had a steady enough hand. With new supplies and determination (AND, of course, many days of feeling like OMG, this is not getting easier), I can report that it did get better – and one day it sorta just clicked; I vowed then never to laugh again when I read about muscle memory. So I’ve been on every website imaginable, bought “how-to” books, and even occasionally white-lie when my wife asks: “Are you STILL online with the calligraphy thing?” “No, I’m just checking email and reading…” (After 42 years, I’m allowed to do that!
)
"You know you're a calligrapher when..." --- got lots of em'.
Anyway – older, wiser, and havin’ the time of my life with copperplate! And every time my grandkids visit they ask me to write their name “fancy”.
This forum is a treasure trove - but, as a techno/social media dinosaur I am trying to learn all the navigation stuff so I have more time to practice!
