Poem layout
« on: May 16, 2016, 10:49:54 AM »
Hello  :)
I'm trying to write a poem that is quite long ..
I have several problem with letter shape, but ok .. for that I only need more time and practicing..
My biggest issue at the moment is with layout  :-[

The first attempt that I had is a plain b/w

The main problem that I notice, is how to start exactly on the left side.. I'm going mad with these maiuscles (that is also the most difficult to me)
I find this layout boring, so I've tried something else

here there is some issue with perspective in photo (the lines are not really so weird)
but I still find it quite boring.

How can I do to emprove layout and composition?
Thanks in advace!

It looks beautiful! You may want to try:

- Making the first capital a bit larger.
- Staggering the lines - like indent an inch for 4 lines, then go back an inch for 4 lines
- Making some words larger for contrast/emphasis.

I really like Erica's idea of making the first capital larger - it really emphasizes that this is the beginning!  Start here!  It's significant!

I also like the idea of indenting - I was thinking every other line (or every line that starts with the letter N).

Or, you could always center.

Beautiful work!  Keep fiddlin'!  ;D

Thanks so much Erica!
I've read and printed and hanging on my wall your useful scheme, but I have a lot of difficulties to apply to pointed pen (I can not always understand how I can play with this style, than it makes perfect sense for broad nib)
This nite I'm gonna try with your usefull advice!
.. and I will continue to update  ;D

Cut the lines out of one of the versions and try rearranging them i different ways on a blank sheet to find something that is pleasing.

ok, I put here my progress ..
Last night I sit down comfortably at my desk, I choose a nice piece of paper and a new nib, then I started ..
I was convinced it would be the final version, but now I'm not happy at 100%
I'm gonna probably make new guidelines with a shorter proportion for ascending and descending--
and keep improving that weird capitals  ::)
