Nibs and pen in airtravel
« on: December 02, 2016, 08:47:34 AM »
Hello all.. I am travelling feom the US to India next week and would like to know if it is okay to carry the nibs and holders with me instead of the check in luggage. I am just a bit paranoid in leaving it in the check in especially because I have got a new PIA hourglass holder(yayy ;D).. i did see a post before which doscussed almost the same topic but just wanted to confirm in case of international flights.

Thank you

Parvathy

Hi Parvathy,
There should not be any problems in carrying the holders in your hand baggage.  Inks are a big No No.  It can get through, or it may not.  Nibs are a hit and miss, specially when you are travelling internally in India.  I had to answer way to many questions once for carrying nibs.  I just packed it in the check-in after that.

happy travels,
Your walnut ink and some nibs will be there in India when you reach anyway. :)

Hi, Parvathy!

I fly ALL THE TIME with nibs, nib holders & ink!  No problems!  Because you don't want open bottles of ink on a plane (it makes flight attendants CRAZY), I practice using an Ahab pen, or the like.  Sometimes, I'll take calligraphy markers & practice broad-edge calligraphy, like Italic.  No worries, though with nibs.  They clearly are no threat to anyone on a plane!  (Although I manage to stab myself pretty regularly & it hurts like heck.)

Happy travels!

Janis
