Although they are both written with a flexible nib, Copperplate (English Roundhand) and Spencerian are in fact quite different, both in execution and in appearance.

Thank you for this comparison. When I started practicing calligraphy in December, I decided I would try to learn copperplate first, then, Spencerian perhaps next year. Both are graceful indifferent ways. I love Spencerian's more delicate appearance, and copperplate's classic beauty.
