Large Paper Storage
« on: June 12, 2023, 03:02:42 PM »
I am going to get some sheets of Arches Text Wove (40 x 25.5 in sheets) and am guessing keeping it in the tube it is mailed in is not good. Storing it flat would be difficult to find space. Currently I am thinking of getting two flat boards and sandwiching it between them to store vertically.
Does anyone have any tips or tricks for storing whole sheets of paper?

We made paper storage “envelopes” in a guild workshop once. I don’t think I have the details but I will look. I keep mine in a giant brown portfolio that I think I bought at either Hobby Lobby or Michaels. It is oversized so every size paper I have fits in it.

If possible, it is generally best to ship and store large sheets of paper flat to minimize the risk of damage. You can use rigid, flat packaging materials such as sturdy cardboard or foam boards to protect the sheets during transit. Place the sheets between the boards and secure them together with straps, tape, or bands to prevent movement and bending. Or you could clearly label the package with "Do Not Bend" to indicate that the contents are delicate. You can also include handling instructions to inform the carrier or recipient about the proper care and orientation of the package during transit.
