German Proverb
« on: May 12, 2017, 06:00:07 AM »
Hello my dear fellow calligraphers,

I decided to fill in the void of german language here with a proverb from my mother tounge.
This one says "wer Wind sät, wird Sturm ernten".
I love it because it can be used with positive and negative connotation. The meaning is, that if you plant a seed, you will receive what you planted.
I.e. if you show hatred to a person it will at some point fall back on you but with greater force. On the other hand, if you are polite, you will be treated polite, too, may even more polite.

As you might know by now, I'm a fan of broad edge pen calligraphy, so I will keep on posting broad edge. In my opinion I'm showing progress already. My hand becomes more steady by now. The letters begin to have a sharper and more proper form and I think my spacing skills between letters and words have increased. I can now even add some simple florishes, without making it look odd.
Feels good to make progress. But I know my sketches are far from perfect, so feel free to point out things to me :-).

Greetings and a lovely weekend to you all,
fderk

A well baked cake is delicious.  The icing on the cake.  Now that's something, something.

Ok...Following your lead..

I like the idea of multi language postings. This creates a feeling for a quote. For me the quote from the bible sounds (plus looks, credits to you) different in the different languages. I might try out something alike.

German is so severely under appreciated. It's such a gorgeous language! I am so happy to see this here! And in lovely orange ink too.   :)
