Martha Stewart Exemplar
« on: January 04, 2014, 09:51:10 PM »
Martha Stewart cracks me up. Way back when I first started my calligraphy business, I had an advertisement in MS Weddings. The first issue I was in, I was really upset that there was a feature on invitations and it said Calligraphy was passé! So happy no one listened to that! LOL!

Anyway, here is a nice tutorial from MS. The intro again makes me chuckle as it states, "Calligraphed letters may appear intricate, but that doesn't mean they are difficult to create." Really? I never felt that way! I suppose it is correct. They aren't difficult to create... just difficult to create well!  ;D

In any event, it has a nice modern capital exemplar so check it out!

Ahh this is fabulous! Thanks Erica!

You're right, some of the text does make me chuckle:
"The graceful letters of the copperplate-style alphabet are made up of a handful of uncomplicated pen strokes"

I beg to differ... LOL. And did I miss it, or was the calligrapher not credited?

I couldn't find a credit. That was another pet peeve of mine. They didn't used to credit calligraphers either. The magazines are better about it now, though.  :o
